FAQs
As a little girl, I dreamed I could fly. I even asked Santa one year for a magic carpet…I’ve always been drawn to images of birds and flight. To me, they symbolize the ultimate freedom, to soar among the clouds. When traumatic events happen to us, they create such a heaviness it is nearly impossible to imagine feeling free. This is my goal, to help my clients set their spirits free by healing the past and fully living in the present.
I do not expect to be the perfect fit for every client. My approach is compassionate yet direct. I tend to work best with folks that are looking to take a deep-dive and really get to the core issues that are contributing to distress. I value honesty and authenticity in the therapeutic relationship and welcome clients to share feedback with me. I also love to incorporate humor into my work as appropriate.
The frustrating answer is “it depends.” I have certainly worked with folks who have come in well-resourced and with strong support and can make great progress, particularly with EMDR, in a handful of sessions. But this is often not the case. The clients I tend to work with typically have more complex histories that require more pacing in therapy. This is something we will talk about and continue to assess along the way.
I primarily see clients 1 on 1. At times we may bring in family members or other support people as desired. If a client is seeking consistent family therapy, I feel it is best to seek out a clinician specifically trained in working with families.
Yes, absolutely. All are welcome here.
